What will you be doing?

Lambourne End Centre is a niche charity in south west Essex that works with over 18,000 young people each year on a wide range of personal development programmes, using our unique blend of adventure, environmental and farm activities.  Our mission is “to support people to overcome obstacles in life through nurturing them in nature, encouraging them in play and curiosity, challenging them in risk and adventure, and engaging them in outdoor learning.  Cultivating connections to the world around them, and inspiring positive lasting change.”  We do this by using the activities to generate a wide range of tailored programmes designed to encourage team building, problem solving and communication skills, as well as build confidence, enthuse and motivate, and raise aspirations.       The groups we work with are as varied as Princes Trust groups, School groups, Pupil Referral Units, young people with disabilities or additional needs, and those struggling in mainstream education (for a variety of reasons).  No two days or two groups are ever the same, and each day brings a fresh challenge!   The Centre is seeking new Trustees to join the existing Board to provide strategic leadership for the Centre and strengthen the expertise of the existing board.  We are looking for people with good networking skills and existing networks, who will act as an ambassador for Lambourne End and develop the work of the Centre in line with its strategic aims. We are aiming for our trustee board to be more diverse and better reflect the people and communities that use the Centre. Therefore, we are especially keen for individuals from the full spectrum of UK society to apply.   Suitable candidates should have:

Integrity that inspires trust Passion for the work of the Centre Commitment to Board effectiveness

The post is voluntary and non-remunerated, however, out of pocket expenses may be claimed.   If you think you can bring leadership, passion and expertise to the Centre, we would really love to hear from you.

What are we looking for?

The ideal person will believe in the ethos of the Centre, which is

To have respect for people and the environment To be inclusive To encourage learning To have belief in people’s potential

We are particularly looking for people who have knowledge and experience of one of the following sectors:

NHS / Health Services Education Local / National Government

If in addition to this they also have legal, financial or fundraising expertise, then all the better!

What difference will you make?

As part of the Board you will support and shape the Centre's work and strategic direction.
