What will you be doing?
CPRE Norfolk, the countryside charity, works to make Norfolk a better place for everyone to live, work and enjoy. We act locally and, with our head office nationally, to protect, shape and enhance a beautiful, thriving countryside for everyone to value and enjoy. We are an independent voice for the landscape, engaging with local and regional planning systems to ensure that our views are heard by decision makers. We campaign locally for positive solutions that will support the long-term future of Norfolk – one of England’s most rural areas.By volunteering as a trustee with CPRE Norfolk you'll be helping us to find positive solutions for the issues facing the countryside and the environment in our beautiful county. Our trustee role involves being an active committee member: attending meetings and contributing ideas to develop and implement our Vision for Norfolk strategic plan; supporting the effective administration of our charity; being a positive advocate for CPRE Norfolk and encouraging others to support our work.
What are we looking for?
You will have a good understanding of Norfolk's rural environment and the pressures that it faces, alongside knowledge of local charities and organisations working to find positive solutions for the issues facing the countryside and environment. With good organisational and interpersonal skills and you will ideally have 3+ years previous management level experience in a marketing and development role. Prior event management and membership development experience is welcomed, as is previous trustee experience, but this is not strictly necessary as training will be provided. We do however, ask for an understanding and commitment to CPRE's objectives and policies. We envisage that you will have at least 2-4 hours per month to spend developing this role which can largely be done from home. There is flexibility within our requirements, and we will provide support for the right candidate.
What difference will you make?
We’re passionate about making the countryside in Norfolk a better place for everyone to enjoy. Our vibrant team of volunteers inspires people to care for the countryside and enjoy the benefits it brings wherever they live. This means we work in a very wide area with climate change, youth engagement and bio-diversity all being vitally important, alongside housing, transport, water, food production, energy and planning both at a local and national policy level. Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to help us champion environmental issues such as the climate emergency, renewable energy, biodiversity and sustainable transport. You will be a member of our trustee board and will work closely with the chair to oversee the future direction and development of the charity. By applying your skills and experience you can make a real difference and be a central part of a friendly and passionate charity.
