Volunteer Experienced Advisers needed for Citizens Advice

What will you be doing?

As a Volunteer Adviser you will assist clients over the telephone via email and face to face, using your research skills and our trusted sources of information and advice. We are looking for advisers to work within our office as part of a team of volunteers. Some examples of how you can assist clients might include

explore what benefits a client is entitled to and help them to complete a benefit application form assist a client to appeal a benefit decision complete a benefit calculation on behalf of a client assist a client to complete a letter of grievance to their employer assist a client facing eviction

What are we looking for?

be friendly and approachable be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own prior experience in advising clients have good listening skills have excellent verbal and written communication skills have good maths and IT skills be able to understand information and explain it to others be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role
