What We're Doing: The Restart Programme, a CARMA initiative, researches and explores how digital sustainable fashion networks and cutting-edge technology like AI can empower underserved communities. We focus particularly on working with women and minorities, understanding that systemic inequalities like discrimination, low skill levels, and unsafe work conditions create significant barriers to their advancement. Our goal is to transform the growing sustainable fashion sector into a powerful force for building pathways out of poverty. We explore innovative ways to break down barriers, provide training, and empower individuals to create better lives for themselves. What We Need - Volunteer Recruiter Role: We're seeking a dedicated Volunteer Recruiter to join our mission in launching the Restart Programme. This role involves spearheading our volunteer recruitment efforts, from attracting passionate individuals to managing and retaining a diverse volunteer network that supports our goals. Responsibilities:
Source and recruit volunteers through various channels, including databases, email, and online platforms. Maintain frequent communication with volunteers, ensuring their satisfaction and effective placement
Deliverables: A robust volunteer programme that builds a pipeline to a community of skilled advocates passionate about sustainable fashion and technology. Who You'll Work With: You'll collaborate closely with the Carma Co-Founders and other volunteers focused on design and development, playing a key role in shaping our approach to service users, funders, and the public.
What are we looking for?
The candidate should either be able to hit the ground running whilst seeking to stretch and grow their skills and experience or have a proven track record of managing people. We're Looking For Someone With:
A strong foundation in HR policies and procedures. Proven experience in HR, operations, or a related field, with a track record of successful recruitment through various channels. Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse group of people. Outstanding organisational and team coordination abilities.

Our primary objective with The Restart Programme is to harness sustainable fashion as a tool to empower underserved communities, creating pathways out of poverty, The fashion industry, employing about 300 million people: Key issues include:
Living Wage: Only 2% of fashion brands ensure a living wage for their employees. Child Labor: A significant number of the world's 170 million child laborers are employed in the fashion industry. Wage Disparity: The gap in earnings between executives and entry-level workers can be as vast as 300 times. Women's Plight: Women, particularly those of color, constitute 60-90% of the workforce and are subject to widespread harassment. Low Wages in the UK: Even domestically, wages in some sectors can plummet to as low as £3 per hour
