What will you be doing?
The Group, currently comprised of Cardiff YMCA Housing Association and Cardiff YMCA Ltd, is a registered social landlord and a registered charity. Established in 1852 and initially one organisation, the entity separated for legal and practical reasons, and this was the right approach for several years. However last year, both boards agreed on a merger, as we look to be fit for purpose for the future of our service users. People from ethnic minority backgrounds are underrepresented on our Board and are particularly encouraged to apply. The role is voluntary (we pay out-of-pocket expenses) and will require attendance at 4-6 Board meetings and 4-6 sub-committee meetings a year. Previous trustee experience is not essential, and the Board will provide support to new trustees entering the role, to ensure they feel comfortable and confident in the position. This is an exciting time for the YMCA as we look to complete the merger this financial year and sign off on our new unified strategic plan.
