What will you be doing?
Emmaus Oxford is a relatively small charity with a small board of trustees, usually numbering between 7-9 and we are looking for motivated individuals to take on the challenge of being a key part of a small charity, supporting homeless men and women. It is an exciting time at Emmaus Oxford with the redevelopment of two houses into 'move-on' houses in the near future, increasing the numbers of people we can help and the introduction of a new staff role of Training Manager together with a Training programme for our beneficiaries [known as companions], with the aim of helping more people into well paid employment. Ideally we would like individuals who have knowledge and experience in training and employment. Emmaus Oxford is part of the wider national and international Emmaus movement and as such, also has a key role to play in the implementation of the ambitious new strategy of the UK Emmaus federation.
What are we looking for?
Ability to work as part of a team. Strategic Vision. Independent judgement. Knowledge of homelessness, housing, training, substance misuse, mental health and employment. Understanding of the legal responsibility of charity governance Applications from those with lived experience of homelessness are welcomed
What difference will you make?
Over the next 3 years we aim to increase the number of beneficiaries leaving our community with paid employment. Our board of trustees have been instrumental in the development of our plans which include an ambitious training programme and move on houses providing affordable housing to those moving on from our community in Cowley Oxford. Our trustees will be key to guiding and steering this important work, changing lives of homeless men and women in Oxford.
