What will you be doing?

The role of a Treasurer is to:

Monitor the financial standing of the charity and reports to the Board and senior employees regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses, and the overarching strategic management of the charity’s financial resources. Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the board of trustees at regular intervals. Acts as a counter signatory on cheques and applications to funders and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion. Liaising with external auditors on financial issues and ensuring that the charity’s finances are responsibly managed/invested for the betterment of the charity’s work and for the beneficiaries it serves. Ensure all strategic plans are financially appraised and budgets are aligned to both short-term and long-term objectives each year. Liaise with Finance Director and trustees to prepare and produce management accounts regularly.

What are we looking for?

Person specification Essential

Qualified accountant with demonstrated commercial awareness and knowledge. Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders. Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement. Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship Good communication and leadership skills

Knowledge of charity SORP or willingness to learn Dedicated to the organisation's cause and objectives and willing to act as the charity’s ambassador to external bodies, charities and companies

  Time commitment

The Board currently meet for 2 hours each month on a Thursday evening. This take place on the charity's premises; however it is possible to join remotely. An annual AGM that takes place in November Annual away days for Board Members - these are planned in advance to take into account time commitments Reading of materials sent prior to meetings and on an ad-hoc basis with follow up communication consequently

What difference will you make?

Being a Quetzal trustee is a central role within the charity. The role of a charity trustee is to oversee the management and direction of a charity. Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the charity stays true to its mission and objectives while following all legal and regulatory requirements. Trustees have a large and responsible role in safeguarding the Charity through strategic governance and responsible decision making. Quetzal Trustees are both Trustees of the Charity and Directors of the company.
