What will you be doing?

As Chair, you will support The Wolfpack Project with: Strategic Leadership:

Lead the Charity and its Board to maximise impact for beneficiaries. Monitor Trustees' performance in governance and strategic direction. Manage risk and financial health for the Charity.

Governance:

Optimise governance structures. Enhance Board knowledge and capabilities. Address conflicts, appraise performance, and refresh the Board. Comply with agreed policies.

External Relations:

Act as an ambassador and maintain government and influencer relationships. Speak for the organisation as needed. Represent the charity externally and manage stakeholder conflicts.

Efficiency and Effectiveness:

Chair Board meetings impartially and efficiently. Ensure engaged Trustees make decisions in the Charity's best interests. Foster constructive relationships among Trustees. Collaborate with the CEO for effective policymaking and implementation.

Relationship with CEO & Management:

Build a strong working relationship with the CEO. Support the CEO within boundaries. Maintain open communication with the CEO. Oversee the Charity's affairs in collaboration with the CEO. Conduct CEO appraisal and professional development. Ensure CEO has professional support.

What are we looking for?

Person Description   In addition to the qualities required of a Trustee of the Charity, the Chair must also meet the following requirements:   Personal Qualities · Demonstrate a strong and visible commitment to the Charity, its strategic objectives and cause · Personal gravitas to lead a significant national organisation · Exhibit strong inter-personal and relationship building abilities and be comfortable in an ambassadorial role · Demonstrate tact and diplomacy, with the ability to listen and engage effectively · Strong networking capabilities that can be utilised for the benefit of the Charity · Ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment · Ability to commit time to conduct the role well, including travel and attending events out of office hours   Experience · Experience of being a Chair previously, including a degree of mentorship · Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within an organisation · Successful track record of achievement through their career · Experience of charity governance and working with or as part of a Board of Trustees · Experience of external representation, delivering presentations and managing stakeholders · Experience of change management · Significant experience of chairing meetings and events   Knowledge & Skills · Knowledge and understanding of the Civil Society sector and current issues affecting it · Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate staff and volunteers and bring people together · Financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charity finance issues · Good understanding of charity governance issues   Preference will be given to candidates residing in Nottinghamshire and the broader East Midlands region, given the role requires attendance at in-person meetings.
