What will you be doing?

We're looking for Trustees who can play an active role in supporting the Henderson Hub to continue to grow and become financially and operational sustainable as a charity, whilst expanding our reach to the wider community.      Individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas will also be particularly welcome:

Digital marketing Company secretarial Governance Human resources Financial management Arts production

We ask that Trustees allow approximately one-two days a month to undertake the role effectively.  We are a volunteer led and run organisation.  Trustees will be required to attend Henderson Hub Board meetings which take place quarterly plus the AGM, and to lead on some initiatives.   Trustees are asked to serve for a period of three years from the date of appointment.

What are we looking for?

Ultimately we want to you to bring a commitment and enthusiasm for what the Henderson Hub is about!  If you appreciate the arts and getting people engaged as performers, artists and audiences, and you want to build the community in Abbots Langley - then this is the role for you. As a purely volunteer led charity with minimal staff, you will need to be able to have a relatively hands on role and be willing to take on some small projects to support with the development.  And we'd love it if you lived locally - so Abbots Langley, Kings Langley, Bedmond, Leavesdon, Garston, Hunton Bridge etc. so that you can bring your local knowledge of the community to the role, as well as seeing what we do for yourself.

What difference will you make?

The Henderson Hub is at an exciting point in its development. In December 2020 we appointed our first ever paid Manager, and have recently secured three year support to retain this post. We are now ready to develop our artistic and community offer further, and ensure that the charity is financially sustainable as a core grant continues to taper off over the next few years.  Trustees have a key role to play in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation, and the role that all volunteers (including Trustees) is vital to the organisation's development.  Trustees will be hands on, and get to know the organisation well, potentially leading on an area or project, and supporting the volunteer management committee through their skills in HR, finance, digital, marketing or governance.  Whist well known across the village and surrounding area, there is still more to do to expand the reach of our work and get more local people experiencing arts provision as performers, artists, creators, audience members or technical support.
