The Young People’s Shop is a small charity based in Chichester that supports young people aged with their mental health. We are looking for  a new Trustee with a background in finance to help us achieve our vision and mission.

What will you be doing?

  The Treasurer is a Trustee who oversees the charity’s finances and reports to the Board. You will work with our Operations and Administration Manager to ensure that the charity follows legal and ethical financial management and accounting standards. You will also help the charity plan its budget, monitor its income and expenditure, and prepare its financial statements. You will ensure that an external examiner or auditor reviews the accounts and that their recommendations are implemented. We are seeking a financial professional with some experience or knowledge of charity finances, fundraising, and economic impact. You should be able to explain complex financial information in a simple way.  

What are we looking for?

In addition to the person specification for a Trustee, the Treasurer should have the following qualities.

Financial qualifications and experience Some experience of charity finance, fundraising and pension schemes The skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board A willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis
