What will you be doing?

The newly appointed Chair will be responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and legal compliance of the Charity as well as CEO accountability and leadership. Your experience matters. Your time matters. So if you can lead people well with integrity and enthusiasm, have an understanding of the legal framework surrounding charities, sound judgement and above all, a commitment to changing the lives of unpaid carers for the better, then we need you to help make that difference! As a Board, we meet 6 times per year sometimes virtually along with some sub-groups and have a mix of working age and retired professionals. The role is unpaid, except for travel expenses and approved training, so dedication and understanding of family Carers and the value they add to the Cared - for and wider society is key. With 33 years’ experience under our belt, a Head Office in Maldon, we are well-established across Essex, supporting unpaid family Carers across the county from the age of 5 upwards. We are there when no-one else is. We provide a range of services, activities, support, advice and guidance. We are often the one people turn to, when they have nowhere to go. Whether a Young Carer in primary school, a teenager, or older, we are there. Our Board is well established with committed Trustees and a highly experienced and professional CEO.

Unpaid family Carers both adult and young face a daily battle to look after their loved one and balance life and work, our charity can help and support them by giving them respite from their roles.
