What will you be doing?

Borderlands' work has significantly increased and grown in the last years, as has Borderlands' strategic role in the wider refugee sector. We are keen to recruit someone sharing the same commitment, vision and values as the rest of the charity. The board recently completed a successful governance review and skills audit led by an external consultant. Following this, the Charity is  keen in brining to the board people with the following experiences:

HR skills/professional background Knowledge of relevant government (local/national) policy Lived experience of refugee/asylum issues and/or candidates with a good knowledge & understanding of refugee/asylum issues.

The new Chair will support the board diversification and will work with the CEO in making sure the voices of people we work alongside (asylum seekers and refugees), are heard and that these will influence strategic decisions at board level. The new Chair will be committed to supporting the CEO and the rest of the board in the exciting new charity chapter and in implementing the new long term strategy.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a great team player and team builder, someone who has a strategic mind and can support Borderlands in its next strategic and developmental chapter. The new Chair needs to have experience in line managing and supporting CEOs or similar roles, as well as a good understanding of board management.

What difference will you make?

The Chair of Trustees is a key role in our organisation. Your leadership and commitment will ensure we continue to provide and extend our range of much-needed support and services to the asylum seekers and refugee population in the wider Bristol area.
