What will you be doing?

The Chairperson is key to the success of the organisation and plays a key role in the challenges and goals detailed below:

To help more people within the community who would benefit from our service. To help secure long-term funding for the longevity of the organisation which provides a vital service to the North Somerset community. To move away from diesel-operated vehicles and operate a green fleet of vehicles.

We want to recruit someone who is passionate about helping the elderly and vulnerable in our community, to join our Committee of trustees and council representatives. We are a not-for-profit organisation heavily supported by committed volunteers. We’ve been running for 29 years. We are seeking a person who wants to lead a team of circa 10 like-minded volunteer trustees from various professional backgrounds together with representatives from the surrounding local councils who sit on our committee. The Chair currently has responsibility for overseeing the work of staff and volunteers who deliver this very vital and worthwhile service in the northern half of North Somerset. The organisation has a team of salaried staff who are managed by a Business Manager and Team Leader. The Chair will need to have the ability to interface with local Town and Parish Councils and represent the organisation at high-level meetings is essential. Previous experience as a trustee or governor would be advantageous.    

What are we looking for?

Previous experience in leading a team and being a team player and good listener. Ability to articulate your views to others. Business strategy planning experience and delivery

The current Chair will be available to support the new incumbent of this role.

As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic progression of the organisation. You will lead a dedicated committee of like-minded volunteer trustees together with local town and parish councillors who represent their residents within the geographical area our service covers.
