What will you be doing?

The Better By Bike group has been established for a number of years and are hoping to welcome some new members on their rides. Nottingham Bikeworks are looking for a coordinator to help the group reach new members and to work jointly with existing ride leaders to plan and deliver rides. What you will be doing:

Collaborating with Nottingham Bikeworks and Cycling UK to promote Better By Bike to new riders Working with other group members and ride leaders to coordinate weekly led rides Welcoming riders and helping to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere Supporting new and less experienced cyclists to build their confidence and ensure no one is left behind Planning the routes for rides Jointly leading the rides with other volunteers Following the Cycling UK ride leader guidance such as risk assessing routes and reporting incidents

What are we looking for?

Experience managing volunteers and dealing with members of the public Experience managing ongoing projects involving the public Experience working with neurodivergent people Good interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade people to try something new Good communication skills including experience of publicising events An interest in encouraging people to cycle A confident cyclist, comfortable riding on roads and communicating with traffic

Please note: Appropriate training will be provided by Cycling UK; you can take part in a ride leader course and first aid course. Better By Bike are supported by Cycling UK’s Community Cycle Club programme.

What difference will you make?

You will be helping to make the benefits of cycling - including better physical health, better mental health, and enjoyment of the outdoors - accessible to a wider audience. The group provide friendly, easy-going rides which go at the pace of the slowest rider, making them suitable for people who are new or returning to cycling, with none of the worries about joining a typical 'cycling club' but all of the benefits!
