What will you be doing?

A Trustee has three main responsibilities:

Fiduciary responsibility; holding the organisation in trust and ensuring public confidence. To determine the overall direction of the organisation. To provide leadership.

What are we looking for?

It would be great if the trustee had some previous experience in working with children / young people. Also, it would be excellent if the person had good communication skills, patience and commitment. Finally, it would be particularly interesting if the person had some previous working experience, or knowledge, on some of these areas: (i) Strategic Development and Planning; (ii) Health and Safety; (iii) Safeguarding.

What difference will you make?

In addition to the required statutory duties of all trustees, each trustee should use any specific knowledge and experience he or she may have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This will involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, and providing advice and guidance requested by the board on new initiatives or other issues relevant to the area of the charity’s work in which the trustee has special expertise.
