What will you be doing?
Volunteering as a Trustee with Wealden Citizens Advice (WCA) is a richly rewarding experience, providing many opportunities to contribute to and safeguard the organisation’s work. We provide free, confidential, independent and impartial advice and campaign on big issues affecting people's lives. Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face. We are an independent charity and are part of the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales. People come to us with all sorts of issues such as benefit, housing or employment problems. As a Trustee you will make a valuable contribution to the aims of Wealden Citizens Advice. As a Trustee with Wealden Citizens Advice you will:
complete an introduction for your role maintain an awareness of how WCA is operating attend our 1/4ly Board and Committee meetings take an active discussion during board meetings and work with other trustees to: set policy, strategy direction, and targets and evaluate the performance of WCA monitor the financial position of WCA ensuring that it operates within its means and objectives ensure that all the finances and supporting financial control systems are in order ensure the charity plans for the recruitment and turnover of staff and volunteers review its own work and how effectively it operates including action for improvement work on specific projects with other trustees or staff to further the strategic objectives

Financial Management Strategic Development and Planning Fundraising Marketing HR
What difference will you make?
You will work as a member of an enthusiastic Trustee Board comprising of professionals from several fields. As well as developing experience of the voluntary sector and in information and advice-giving, you will be able to support and mentor our Chief Executive. You’ll have access to training opportunities through central Citizens Advice and you can help to make a real difference in your community. You will need to:
understand and accept the responsibilities and liabilities as trustees be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to yours have good listening, verbal, and written communication skills be able to exercise good independent judgment have good numeracy skills to understand accounts with the support of the treasurer be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role
