What will you be doing?

As a member of the board of Trustees you will work with your fellow Trustees, including the Chair and the Treasurer to set direction for the charity, developing strategy and ensuring the charity is complying with its responsibilities, both legally and to those who fund our charity. The board work closely with our administration team to ensure the charity is running smoothly on a day to day basis.

What are we looking for?

Dementia Together Wirral is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees. We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to our cause and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by dementia. Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. While experience in the listed skills below would be highly desirable, we believe that individuals from diverse and wide-ranging backgrounds would equally be welcomed and contribute greatly to our charity.

Business Management: Candidates with a background in business management will bring valuable expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and organisational development. Community Engagement: Individuals with experience in community engagement will help us build strong relationships with local organisations, businesses, volunteers, and the wider community. Marketing/Social Media: Candidates with a background in marketing and social media will help us raise awareness of our charity and promote our activities to a wider audience. Legal Background: Individuals with a legal background will ensure that our charity complies with all relevant laws and regulations. HR Experience: Candidates with HR experience will help us recruit and retain volunteers and staff, as well as ensure that our charity is a supportive and inclusive workplace.

In addition to statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by dementia and possess the skills and experience we are looking for, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with us to find out more about this exciting opportunity.

What difference will you make?

As a charity, our main objective is to relieve the social isolation experience by those affected by dementia across the Wirral, and their carers. The day-to-day challenges faced by those affected by dementia often go unseen by most, but can be limiting to continue a normal life - such as the stress and confusion caused in social environments. This social isolation from the community, friends and even family, deprives people of a sense of purpose and hope, and negatively affects their confidence and mental health. Dementia Together Wirral produce a monthly calendar of dementia friendly activities and events which are free to members, and provide an opportunity to socialise with new friends who understand, in a safe environment, where they are supported by our volunteers and their peers. We bring respite from isolation, encourage members to reconnect with their community, and provide a rare opportunity to regain their confidence and sense of purpose.
