What will you be doing?

You will initially be a member of our small existing team but will but may  soon have the opportunity to become a leader, and possibly a trustee of this well-established charity, which already supports hundreds of disadvantaged children and their families in rural Uganda.  Your existing skills and ideas will be readily welcomed, and you will have many opportunities to be 'Making a Difference'. You may be able to bring on other volunteers with suitable skills, to help and eventually to put in place strategies plan that will work for many years into the future in close partnership with our Ugandan NGO.  Initially our urgent short term need is to increase our regular monthly income, better utilise our existing database of past volunteers and donors,  and advertise and recruit new volunteers to visit Uganda. The latter benefit our school and medical centre  by both personal fundraising before they go, and the small profits from their stay. This is a Grass-Roots Charity and all our income currently goes directly out to the Ugandan NGO based in our village. Our UK supporters are all volunteers.

What are we looking for?

Some or a mix of the following skills would be desirable: Leadership (Development and Planning) ; NGO Management (Becoming a Trustee and guiding others); Communications and Marketing; (Social Media, Copywriting, Public Relations, ) General Marketing (Newsletters, Facebook Posts, Email requests)  Digital Creative Services ; (Advice on Web Design and SEO, GoodgeGrants,  CRM Development;) Finance (Accountancy/Book-keeping) Income Generation (Fundraising Events, Research and Bid Writing, New Regular Donors)

What difference will you make?

Your input would ensure the continuation of this charity which supports a registered Ugandan NGO which ensures that hundreds of rural disadvantaged Ugandan Children get a good education, daily hot meal, and adequate healthcare. You will be building on the efforts of many volunteers over the past 15+ years that have been supporting and working with village communities in this rural area of Western Uganda. Improved funding will help to expand our Vocational Training Centre which offers a trade and some entrepreneurial skills to many dozens of youngsters in an area of subsistence farming families. These opportunities would help to keep the boys from drifting towards the big towns and getting into problems with unemployment and drugs,  and give the young girls a different choice to a very early pregnancy and marriage.
