Volunteer Chair (CPRE Leicestershire)

What will you be doing?

It is a really exciting time to join us in this key role. We are nearing the completion of our Vision and the new Chair will be vital to delivering it across Leicestershire. There is lots to do, but delivering it will be incredibly rewarding! We are looking for someone who is ready to get stuck in and can bring renewed enthusiasm to our charity. This is a great opportunity for someone familiar with charitable governance who is looking to step up to this central role or for someone with Chair experience who can provide us with their knowledge as we look to deliver a greener future for Leicestershire. Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to help us champion environmental issues such as the climate emergency, renewable energy, biodiversity and sustainable transport. With your support we can do even more! As chair of our board of trustees you’ll have an essential role in the development of our charity. Our friendly team will provide you with training and support to develop in your role.

What are we looking for?

Ideally we would like out chair to have:

A commitment to CPRE policies, brand, campaigns and initiatives Some previous experience in leadership, management and organisational development Good interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy, impartiality, respect and confidentiality Previous experience of committee work- paid or voluntary Knowledge of environmental and countryside issues Knowledge of the charity sector including funding and governance Good written and verbal communication skills Experience of working with people from different backgrounds and abilities Be able to commit to volunteering regularly to suit your availability, including attendance at meetings We ask that all trustees are, or are willing to become, members of CPRE

What difference will you make?

As Chair of our Trustees, you will be directing and influencing all of what we do. It is an exciting time to join us as we prepare to launch and start the delivery of our Vision for a Greener Leicestershire. Your role as chair will be central to these existing plans. We are a small local charity and so all trustees are very hands on. As a result, there will be loads of opportunities to use your existing skills as well as indulge your interests. There is a wide array of training offered by the national CPRE to support you and increase your knowledge and experience. Alongside steering the delivery of existing projects, you will have a huge influence on the future of CPRE Leicestershire. Your leadership will ensure we continue to deliver and extend our range of projects, benefiting the environment and the people of Leicestershire.
