Ignite Hubs an education charity pioneering innovative and exciting ways for children and young people to learn. Our vision is to empower all children and young people with the mindset and skills to become whoever they want and to live life on their terms. Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where children and young people have access to learning opportunities, support and connections to grow and be successful in school and in life. We aim to:
Create the best learning environment for children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities, particularly:
Girls Those with special educational needs and disabilities Those from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds
To support and empower young people into work. Value, support and develop our volunteers and help them realise their potential and aspirations. Foster a sense of community.
We plan to offer classes, workshops and events for children and young people on a wide variety of subjects via our five Hubs; Code, STEM, Innovation & Enterprise, Creativity and Health & Wellbeing. We hope you will join our mission to create innovative and engaging educational hubs, in-person and virtual, and help us roll them out across the country.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced professional with an education or teaching background to join our Board of Trustees. The Board leads the charity, ensures it is governed appropriately and operates effectively to fulfil its mission and purpose. We are passionate about helping children and young people discover their talents and potential. We are committed to creating programmes that can move the needle on social issues that we care about such as better gender equality in Tech and STEM and social mobility. We pioneer innovative ways for children and young people to develop, progress and succeed. Bringing world-class learning and education that can unleash future changemakers, disruptors and thinkers. We are developing our educational hubs for launch and have other exciting initiatives and projects in the pipeline such as our Online Learning Platform, Career Books series for children and magazine for young people. We create a nurturing environment where children and young people can receive the support that they need to achieve their goals, develop a growth mindset and reach their highest potential. We care about our students and take a holistic approach to learning and education. You will work closely with the other trustees to lead, govern and manage the organisation. This is a start-up so you will be expected to be hands-on as and when needed to help execute on the organisation’s aims and objectives. The organisation is dynamic, innovative and growing quickly. We have a very exciting future ahead. The ideal person will be:
Passionate about education for children and young people Have an education or teaching related background Strategically minded Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong leadership skills
The role is flexible and the time commitment expected is around 3 hours a week. The term is three years and there is a 6 months probationary period at the start. You are required to attend four quarterly Trustee Board meetings a year and be available, as much as possible, for sub-committee meetings and other ad hoc meetings, as and when needed. You should also be available to respond to emails, review papers etc. Please only apply if have regular time available and are looking to be part of an organisation for the long-term.
