What will you be doing?

The People's Theatre Company exists to make the pleasures and possibilities of theatre available to everyone. Our world class productions tour to over a hundred venues a year making sure that as many people as possible have access to high quality local entertainment. At the same time we work tirelessly in research and education in an effort to promote the value of theatre, expecially to young people and aspiring artists, partcularly those identifying as NEET (not in emplyment, education or training.) Our current marketing manager, Stuart Marriner, has been volunteering with us for two years and is now looking to hand over the batton to someone who can bring as much love and commitment to the role as he has done.  The ideal candidate will be able to think strategically and work with others to create materials and content that can promote our free education programs and sell our events, shows and associated works. Stuart will be available to give a comprehensive handover and ongoing support as needed but is looking to drop his voluntreering hours down from a 5-7 hour week to a 1-2 hour week. As well as Stuart the successful candidate will have support from the board, Artistic Director and existing volunteer team.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be familiar with developing marketing strategies and using the standard software packages for content creation and social media management. You will be inspiring, motivated and comfortable working alone or guiding and supporting a team of volunteers.

What difference will you make?

The People's Theatre Company wants to be good and also do good. However it is one thing to create award winning shows and effective education programmes but it is an entirely different thing to get people to take an interest. Last year only one person took part in our FREE Career Development Programme. They started as complete beginners and have since acquired a major London agent and had named parts in three productions including a major tour with Matt Willis and Chelsea Halfpenny. This highlights the issue - what we do is highly effective but clearly how we promote it is not.  Similarly our latest original family musical was selected by every reviewer who saw it as one of the best family shows of the year but almost every audience we played to could have been bigger. We need to get better with our messaging and ensure that what we say resonates with our target beneficiaries.  So if you think you can help and want to work with a fun loving team that is committed to making great theatre then please drop us a line.
