Description
Key Responsibilities
Payroll management: coordinate the delivery of an efficient payroll service across three countries, including:
- working with external partners in Italy and Spain and internal colleagues in the UK, ensuring accurate and timeline information is provided within agreed timeframes each month
- collating the relevant documents and records to ensure all payroll changes are fully documented and the data transfer between partners is controlled
- checking the data output from all three payroll processes, ensuring any variances or discrepancies are identified, and explained or corrected
- handling all payroll related employee communications, including internal announcements, process changes and ad hoc query resolution
- working closely with peers in the Finance team to ensure full and accurate records are maintained to facilitate timely in-country reporting and legislative compliance
Benefits benchmarking + management: monitor the effectiveness of current benefits offerings, ensuring we remain competitive and broadly comparable in each country:
- completing benchmarking exercises in each geography in order to build a comprehensive understanding for market norms, legal minimums and candidate expectations
- making fully costed recommendations to senior leadership for consideration and approval
- sourcing suitable external partners to help us deliver effective, efficient and engaging benefits for all employees
- administering the employee share scheme, including creating and issuing subscription agreements, maintaining employee files and central records
Salary benchmarking: coordinate the delivery of a continuous cycle of salary benchmarking across all core teams and countries, including:
- working with the recruitment team to monitor and collate relevant candidate data, including salary levels, expectations, talent pool size, arising trends, etc
- gathering and collating salary data from external sources, including recruitment partners, white papers, competitors, etc
- sourcing and participating in relevant external compensation surveys, including the collation and submission of our employee data within required timeframes
Process improvement and project delivery: our processes are homegrown and we know there’s tons of room for optimisation, including automation and data management compliance. Some of things you’ll be getting involved with and leading on include:
- assessing our payroll management model and making a recommendation on when / whether this should be wholly outsourced and on what basis (global / local)
- completing a thorough market evaluation of external payroll partners, ensuring the application of rigorous selection criteria to identify the right partner for us
- managing the transition between partners when changes are made, ensuring absolutely continuity of service and accuracy of data provision throughout
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- You have exceptional attention to detail and take proactive steps to ensure the accuracy of all your work output
- You pride yourself on working efficiently, with a raft of examples up your sleeve which show how you’ve increased your impact over the last few years
- You’re a plate-spinner - you like being involved in multiple projects at once and get a buzz from juggling a few different operational tasks in tandem
- You’re resourceful and resilient - not all the information you need is going to be at your fingertips, so you’ll need to enjoy the thrill of the hunt as you gather what you need
- You like variety - this isn’t an easy role, so you’ll need to be someone who thrives on challenge, likes to be always learning and isn’t afraid of a broad role remit
- You’re an independent worker who knows how to self-motivate to meet exacting deadlines
- You’re a clear communicator with an ability to wield the power of storytelling to influence others towards collaborative decisions
- You’ve done at least half of what this role entails before - you could come from either a payroll or benefits background across multiple countries, or just have experience in one country but with a generalist remit
- strong excel skills with the ability the process large datasets with appropriate data accuracy controls
- previous experience conducting tailored benefits reviews, with the proven ability to conduct ROI assessments and make compelling commercial cases
- broad understanding of salary benchmarking best-practice, and frameworks that support niche / emerging industries
- exposure to and knowledge of international employment norms, benefits administration and / or payrollprocessing would be a huge advantage
