A bit about Field

At Field, we’re accelerating the build out of renewable energy infrastructure to reach net zero. We are starting with battery storage, storing up energy for when it’s needed most to create a more reliable, flexible and greener grid. At Field, we will show that batteries are a totally viable part of our energy infrastructure - now, not in some distant future.

We have ambitious plans to become the defining new clean energy player in Europe over the next few years, gradually expanding beyond batteries into new asset types.

Your mission

This is a new role, created to help ensure our focus on employee engagement, retention and reward is maintained as we grow. Joining a small but mighty People team, you’ll be our reward guru and a go-to person for all things pay and benefits related. This role would suit someone keen to build on their previous payroll experience by gaining broader exposure to a wider reward-based remit.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll management: coordinate the delivery of an efficient payroll service across three countries, including:

  • working with external partners in Italy and Spain and internal colleagues in the UK, ensuring accurate and timeline information is provided within agreed timeframes each month
  • collating the relevant documents and records to ensure all payroll changes are fully documented and the data transfer between partners is controlled
  • checking the data output from all three payroll processes, ensuring any variances or discrepancies are identified, and explained or corrected
  • handling all payroll related employee communications, including internal announcements, process changes and ad hoc query resolution
  • working closely with peers in the Finance team to ensure full and accurate records are maintained to facilitate timely in-country reporting and legislative compliance

Benefits benchmarking + management: monitor the effectiveness of current benefits offerings, ensuring we remain competitive and broadly comparable in each country:

  • completing benchmarking exercises in each geography in order to build a comprehensive understanding for market norms, legal minimums and candidate expectations
  • making fully costed recommendations to senior leadership for consideration and approval
  • sourcing suitable external partners to help us deliver effective, efficient and engaging benefits for all employees
  • administering the employee share scheme, including creating and issuing subscription agreements, maintaining employee files and central records

Salary benchmarking: coordinate the delivery of a continuous cycle of salary benchmarking across all core teams and countries, including:

  • working with the recruitment team to monitor and collate relevant candidate data, including salary levels, expectations, talent pool size, arising trends, etc
  • gathering and collating salary data from external sources, including recruitment partners, white papers, competitors, etc
  • sourcing and participating in relevant external compensation surveys, including the collation and submission of our employee data within required timeframes

Process improvement and project delivery: our processes are homegrown and we know there’s tons of room for optimisation, including automation and data management compliance. Some of things you’ll be getting involved with and leading on include:

  • assessing our payroll management model and making a recommendation on when / whether this should be wholly outsourced and on what basis (global / local)
  • completing a thorough market evaluation of external payroll partners, ensuring the application of rigorous selection criteria to identify the right partner for us
  • managing the transition between partners when changes are made, ensuring absolutely continuity of service and accuracy of data provision throughout
