Role Summary:
- Drive and operate tractors and other large machinery.
- Perform vehicle checks, routine maintenance, and cleaning.
- Transport goods and manage the associated paperwork.
- Work autonomously and as part of a friendly farm team.
- Adjust and set up equipment for optimal performance.
Role Requirements:
- Proven experience in driving and managing large machinery in challenging environments.
- Full Category B license or higher.
- Capability to work independently, with initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of health and safety on a farm.
- Mechanical knowledge is a plus.
- PA1 and PA2 spray certificates, and forklift truck certificates are desirable but not mandatory.
Additional Details:
- Position is a 5-month fixed term contract (May – October).
- Working hours are 39 per week, with the likelihood of overtime during busy summer months.
- Based in Buckfastleigh, Devon, with no public transport access; own transportation is required.

Salary…
£13.48 per hour. Overtime is likely in the busy summer months working approx. 10-15 hours’ overtime per week, this is paid at time and a half
The hours…
This is a 5-month fixed term contract ( May – October) working 39 hours a week, Mon – Fri with some flexibility to work occasional weekends at busy times. Hours of work are usually 7am – 3.30 pm, with 30-minute paid break at 10am. Based at Wash Barn, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU. Please note we are based in a rural location with no immediate access to public transport and we are not able to offer accommodation, so you must have your own means of transportation to reach the farm.
What you’ll be doing…
We are looking for a tractor driver who can use their experience and judgment to deliver excellent driving skills and provide high standards of work at all times.
It is essential that you possess a full Category B licence or above. You will have experience of driving and manoeuvring loaded vehicles in difficult conditions and locations. Other duties will include vehicle checks, routine maintenance, cleaning, transporting goods and completing the associated paperwork.
Although you will be working as part of a team, you will need to be self-motivated, able to use your initiative and solve problems when they arise. Ideally you will come to the role with a good understanding of health and safety and always ensure that you operate in a safe and respectful manner around the farm.
What we're looking for…
- Essential to be competent in driving large machinery, with knowledge of setting up and adjusting equipment to achieve the desired standard
- A degree of mechanical knowledge will be expected
- Pa1, and Pa2 spray certificates are desirable, along with forklift truck certificates. But training can be provided
- It is essential that you possess a full Category B licence or above.
