  • Role Summary:
    • Teach international students for 3 hours every weekday morning for 3 weeks.
    • Develop and deliver compelling and engaging lesson plans.
    • Participate in compulsory evening activities and ensure student safety and engagement.
    • Contribute to the ISSOS summer magazine with a short article.
  • Role Requirements:
    • Must have previous teaching experience; preference given to candidates with experience teaching international students.
    • Strong knowledge of the journalism industry.
    • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills.
    • Enthusiasm and motivation to inspire a love for journalism in students.
    • Team player willing to engage in the broader summer school activities.

The organisation - ISSOS We are an international summer school that provides a balanced summer program of academia, fun and culture for 13–18 year olds from over 80 nationalities, at the University of St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale universities.

The role - what the role entails As a Journalism Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a class of international students, 3 hours per day, every weekday morning for the duration of the 3 week programme. You will be expected to create and execute interesting and engaging lesson plans. You will also be required to take part in evening activities on a compulsory rota basis, ensuring students are safe and happy at all times. You will also be expected to contribute a short article for our summer magazine, The ISSOS Times.

Job requirements Previous teaching experience is essential, with experience in teaching international students preferred. You must have a strong working knowledge of the journalism industry and be fluent in English. You must be a clear and effective communicator, enthusiastic and self motivated, passionate about instilling a love for your subject in your students, and a team player who is willing to be involved in the wider summer school programme.

Benefits We provide full bed and board for you at our campuses, plus fixed payment. All staff are required to be on duty (on a rota basis) for evening programmes, activities, day trips and arrival/departure days.

Employment will be subject to the company receiving two references from previous employees covering your suitability for the specific position and working with those under 18 years old.
