Organisation Summary: ISSOS is an exceptional international summer school, hosting students aged 13–18 from over 80 countries.   • Role Summary:
  • Ensure the welfare of 160 students on campus as part of a collaborative team.
  • Coordinate and lead exciting sporting events, local excursions, and a diverse range of evening activities.
  • Act as a fun, mentor, and friend to an international student body, enriching their summer experience.
  • Role Requirements:
  • Must be a UK or US citizen, or have the legal right to work in the respective country without visa sponsorship.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with young people.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • A background in sports, music, theatre, dance, or similar hobbies is highly desirable.
  • Application Process Details:
  • Candidates must undergo a full criminal background check.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a current PVG/DBS or equivalent background check, financed by ISSOS.
  • Employment is contingent on receiving two positive references from previous employers regarding suitability for the position and experience with minors.

Benefits: Enjoy a three-day orientation before sessions begin, travel reimbursements, finder’s fees, on-site accommodation, and meals provided once students arrive. Note that meals during orientation are not covered.

The organisation - ISSOS We are an international summer school that provides a balanced summer program of academia, fun and culture for 13–18 year olds from over 80 nationalities, at the University of St Andrews, Cambridge and Yale universities.

The role - Female Counselor Counselors at ISSOS work as a team to look after the welfare of all 160 students on campus. They also help to organise and run the sporting activities, local trips and our varied evening programme. Counselors are responsible for injecting the fun into ISSOS, as well as being a mentor and friend to the students.

Job requirements To apply for our roles you must either be a UK or a US citizen, or have the legal right to work in the country you are applying for a role in. Please note that we cannot sponsor visas for working in the UK. Previous experience working with young people (minimum 2 years) is essential. Interests in sport, music, theatre, dance and other hobbies would be advantageous. You must be fluent in English.

Benefits Before the start of the session, we run a three-day orientation (dates are inclusive of this). Staff members receive reimbursement after the session. Travel reimbursements and any finders’ fees are paid separately. We provide accommodation in all locations for all staff. Meals are provided in the halls of residence once students arrive, however, staff are responsible for their meals during Orientation.

Applications details All of our staff must pass a full criminal background check. Successful applicants will be expected to hold a current PVG/DBS or equivalent enhanced background check/be willing to obtain one. The cost of this will be covered by the company. Employment will be subject to the company receiving two references from previous employees covering your suitability for the specific position and working with those under 18 years old.
