What will you be doing?
Having recently completed our pilot phase, we’ve since moved into an exciting period of expanding our services in 2024. The role of all of our Trustees is to help set and work towards the strategic direction of the charity, and to provide both support and scrutiny. The board must always act in the best interests of the Oxfordshire Discovery College. At this next stage, we need a trustee experienced in fundraising/ income-generation to help us develop our fundraising approach and secure the funds needed to enable us to be able to run our much-needed programmes in Oxfordshire. We are looking for a trustee who will ensure that our income generation is diverse and robust and guarantees that it is delivered to a high standard.
What are we looking for?
We require our new fundraising trustee to help provide the strategic direction for the Oxfordshire Discovery College. We require an individual who can secure funds, especially through fundraising. It is pivotal that our new trustee has good fundraising/ income-generation knowledge. It would also be useful for you to have a sound understanding of the Code of Fundraising practice. In particular, it is important that you have the skills to lead the board in your area of expertise: ensuring that our organisational fundraising is following legal guidelines and ensuring that the board is following best practice whilst being accountable. You will need to be able to work as part of a team (especially working closely with the CEO), but also be willing to challenge decisions and be prepared to present unpopular ones to the rest of the Board. Our new trustee would need to champion co-production - being at the core of the organisation - and have a strong commitment to equality and diversity.
What difference will you make?
In becoming our trustee specialising in income-generation and fundraising, you will help us to secure funds to deliver our suite of programmes throughout the county. It will also enable us to grow as an organisation (including creating new programmes) and continue to change the lives of young people suffering with poor mental health and those around them through using a psychoeducational model. We need finances to be secured to achieve this mission. You can make a difference by joining our board.
