Volunteer Trustee - Finance

What will you be doing?

As a Trustee, you will bring your financial knowledge and experience to help guide the financial decision-making of our charity, Health Exchange and trading subsidiary Living Well Taking Control. Working closely with the other members of our Board to safeguard Health Exchange and Living Well Taking Control finances and future. We’re always open to being approached by people who might add value to our already vibrant and effective Board. It’s not necessary to have previous Board experience as support will be available to develop in the role; we exist to help people make changes which enable them to learn, and that means Trustees too! Senior management and Board level experience is an advantage but not essential. Health Exchange has an active Board development ethos and would welcome applicants without prior Board experience, with a view to gaining those skills as part of career development. What are we looking for?

Key Expectations:

Able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy, with the ability to listen and engage effectively. Maintain awareness of how Health Exchange and trading subsidiary Living Well Taking Control is operating in line with contractual and funding requirements, offering advice and support to achieve charitable outcomes Maintain good governance of the charity in line with its Articles of Association and Charity Commission best practice. Sound judgement and ability to think strategically; ability to handle competing priorities and make informed decisions. Leadership skills, able to build consensus whilst balancing the need for full debate acting as critical friend. Well-connected in your professional field or / and community and willing to act as an advocate for Health Exchange.

Specific Subject Knowledge Skills & Experience:

Financial management experience including budgets and forecasts, financial accounting, cash flow, risk management, liquidity, and financial systems. Effectively collaborate with the head of finance maintaining open communication channels, actively participating in financial discussions, and offering insights to ensure sound financial stewardship. Proven ability to communicate and clearly explain financial information to members of the Board. Finance experience at mid/senior level ACCA, ACA, CIMA or other related finance qualification
