Volunteer TREASURER WANTED FOR COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY CHARITY

What will you be doing?

Advise Trustees on financial matters and regulatory compliance.   Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements with regards to financial matters, and acts within the confines of its governing document and in furtherance of the charity’s objects. Provide post-audit synopsis for AGM (once per year)

Attend 4-6 monthly meetings with IFA Council & CEO (via zoom) to evaluate current financial position, discussing proposals for future investment of assets and charity resources and where necessary recommend action.   Oversea the budgetary oversight compiled by the bookkeeper and CEO

Liaising with long standing bookkeeper and auditors providing accounting services to the IFA.

Act as a counter-signatory on charity cheques and any applications for funds, if  and where appropriate.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have a background and qualification in financial management/accounting and an appreciation of the constraints that apply to a small charity.

The field of complementary therapy is increasingly recognised particularly in the field of preventive medicine. The IFA were the first professional body established to represent the rapidly growing aromatherapy industry and are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. We pioneered aromatherapy in the NHS but there is still some way to go before it is recognised mainstream and we carry on with the same pioneering spirit in all our activities. Volunteering can be immensely rewarding, providing both expected and unexpected opportunities for personal development and while you bring your skills and energy to the running of the charity, you will also find you are gaining new experience and knowledge.
