Role Summary:
- Develop and improve ESG indicators and metrics for our product portfolio.
- Create and maintain research guidance documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct validity tests and impact analyses for the ESG indicators and metrics.
Role Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ESG, sustainability research, or finance.
- Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Sustainable Development, Finance, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Understanding of ESG investment practices and research methodologies.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Skilled at prioritizing tasks and adhering to deadlines.
- Self-motivated learner with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability.
- Expertise in MS Excel; VBA, Python, R, or other statistical software knowledge is a plus.
- SQL and PowerBI skills are advantageous.
About the role: The Analyst, Indicators and Metrics Team, is providing support for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of all ESG indicators and ESG metrics within Morningstar Sustainalytics. The Indicators and Metrics team leverages technical applications and content expertise to ensure a cohesive approach to our portfolio of product-agnostic indicators and metrics. A key responsibility of the team is to support ongoing projects to automate data collection for indicators and metrics. Collaboration is key, and close interaction with the ESG data team, research teams, IT teams, and product excellence team is required for the successful development and maintenance of indicators and metrics.
Job responsibilities: - Support the development of new indicators and metrics as well as improvements to existing indicators and metrics within our products, such as the provision of additional meta data (tick box criteria, citations, analyst comments, collection date, estimated vs reported information, etc.); - Support the creation and maintenance of internal and external research guidance documents for indicators and metrics; - Support testing of the internal and external validity of indicators and metrics including change/impact analyses and portfolio performance analyses;
Qualifications: - At least 2 years' work experience, especially related to ESG, sustainability research and/or finance; - Master's degree in a related discipline (Environmental Sciences, Sustainable Development, Finance, Econometrics, Statistics, or related sciences); - Knowledge of ESG investment approaches, products, and research methodologies; - Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data effectively; - Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; - Capacity for self-directed learning to enhance skills and knowledge - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - Demonstrated passion for sustainability - Excellent MS Excel knowledge; Knowledge of VBA, Python, R, or other statistical software is considered an asset; - SQL and PowerBI skills are considered an asset.
