The role of Collection Manager: Storage and Moves (BM_ARC) involves leading and managing the work of a team of Assistant Collection Managers to deliver documentation, packing and rehouse as part of a major storage move project, with a particular focus on archaeological assemblages. This role will be based at the British Museum’s new storage facility, BM_ARC, at the Thames Valley Science Park in Shinfield, near Reading.
Job requirements include demonstrable interest in aspects of the British Museum’s collections, object or art handling and collections care experience in a museum or similar environment, ability to manage and motivate a team, excellent prioritisation, planning, and organisational skills, flexibility to deliver a varied programme of work, self-motivation and ability to use initiative, good communication skills, verbally and in writing, ability to work as part of a wide and multi-disciplinary team. A Museum Studies or qualifications that include practical experience of object handling, particularly of archaeological assemblages, is desirable.
