Role Summary:

Role Requirements:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent formal training.
  • Experience with high voltage electrical systems and maintenance.
  • Senior authorized person duties up to 33kV.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards, procedures, and regulations.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Full UK driver's license and the right to work in the UK.

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced High Voltage Engineer to join our UK Operation and Maintenance team as a Site Technician. The role is of a hybrid nature with the primary responsibility of carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance to the high voltage networks and equipment and a secondary responsibility of supporting the wider O&M team with low voltage and solar reactive and preventative maintenance activities.

The UK O&M team was established in 2019 with the intention of providing best in class service to Low Carbon owned assets. In order to do this it is crucial we have to have the right individuals within our team. We believe in providing the right environment, training and support to allow our team members to work to the best of their abilities, making the most appropriate decisions and taking the correct actions based on relevant scenarios and operating conditions. We always have the site’s best interests at the core of all we do.

The ideal candidate will be based from home and preferably located within either the Essex or Hertfordshire regions or adjacent to. Working from either of our offices in London, Gloucester or Exeter will be required at times.

Key Responsibilities

High Voltage

  • Operation, maintenance, fault finding and repairs on electrical systems associated with high voltage private generator connections
  • Senior authorised person duties up to 33kV
  • Carry out due diligence paperwork and documentation reviews and inspections
  • Compliance with legislation, policies and H&S
  • Producing technical maintenance reports
  • Mentoring and training colleagues
  • Undertake appropriate training

Solar and Low Voltage Operation and Maintenance

  • Support with preventative maintenance activities to operational sites
  • Support with reactive maintenance activities to operational sites
  • Plant monitoring and analysis (support to monitoring team)
  • Assist with system upgrade works
  • Supervision and management of contractors as necessary

Skills & Experience

  • Educated to degree level in an electrical engineering or equivalent formal training in electrical engineering and maintenance
  • Experienced in the installation, testing and maintenance of high voltage electrical systems
  • High level of electrical engineering knowledge
  • SAP authorisation up to 33kV, or be willing to undergo the relevant training
  • Competent when dealing with quality standards, best practise procedures, technical specifications and regulatory
  • A self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry, desire for success and the willingness to challenge the status quo in order to maximise asset potential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport quickly and develop long-term relationships with all stakeholder groups. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with all stakeholder groups including OEMs and contractors
  • Full UK drivers licence
  • Existing right to work in the UK (we cannot provide VISA sponsorship)
