Role Summary:Manage administrative and project management tasks within the built environment sector team.Lead relationship building and networking efforts to establish strategic partnerships.Coordinate and execute TCLP-led events, workshops, and meetings in the built environment sector.Collect and manage sector knowledge for enhanced relationship development.Collaborate with other sector teams and engagement teams to maintain a cohesive events calendar and TCLP presence.

Job location: Predominantly remote, UK. However, this role will involve in-person networking as well as relationship building and management (for example, one-to-one meetings, attending sector events and networking opportunities to support senior colleagues), so a London-based candidate, or a candidate with easy access to London, is preferred. The Chancery Lane Project (TCLP) is the largest network of lawyers and business leaders using commercial contracts to deliver rapid decarbonisation globally. We work internationally with large public and private sector organisations (and the lawyers who advise them) to deliver fast and fair decarbonisation through contracts. We do this because contracts govern the entire global economy, and we believe that changing these contracts is one of the fastest ways of tackling the climate crisis. We do this by publishing open-source content, building networks of practitioners and engaging directly with organisations and governments in over 110 countries.

Purpose of the role

The Chancery Lane Project is looking for a full-time, permanent Sector Relationship Manager who will be responsible for managing all engagement activities in our built environment sector team.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the administration, logistics, and project management for the built environment sector team, including managing diaries and emails, and keeping our customer relationship management (CRM) system up to date. 
  • Identify and scope the companies, individuals, and networks within the built environment sector for TCLP to form relationships with.
  • Support the Head of Built Environment and Senior Associate with forming key strategic relationships. This will involve you doing some relationship management of your own.
  • Support the built environment team with the logistics and administration needed to create and coordinate successful professional networks. This includes being the first point of contact for network members, managing relationships with members, and helping to run the network in a way that makes membership rewarding and valuable.
  • Take the lead on organising all aspects of TCLP-led events, meetings, and workshops for the built environment. This includes sourcing suitable locations, liaising with speakers and attendees, managing materials, and dealing with technical requests such as catering, travel, and equipment.
  • Gather, share, and store knowledge and intelligence about the built environment sector for effective relationship building by the built environment and other sector teams. 
  • Work with the sector relationship managers in other TCLP sector teams and with our engagement team to: 
  • develop and maintain an events calendar
  • ensure a TCLP presence at all relevant events.

Experience

  • Demonstrable success in managing relationships with third parties, clients, and members of professional networks.
  • Updating and maintaining CRM systems (eg Salesforce). 
  • Experience scheduling meetings and events for executives, teams, and third parties. 
  • Experience in researching and preparing materials and briefings to facilitate events, meetings, and workshops.
  • Able to conduct research to understand an industry, professional network, sector, or audience. 
  • You have had to use strong networking skills to identify and connect with a variety of audiences, especially key decision-makers. 
  • A background in relationship management skills to support partnerships, collaborations, and opportunities. 
  • Familiar with knowledge sharing, and exchanging information, skills, and best practices among individuals, teams, and organisations. 
  • An understanding of or interest in the built environment sector is desirable but not essential.

Who you’ll work with

You’ll join a growing organisation of 20 highly motivated people. We’re collaborative, supportive, and we value learning from each other. The built environment sector team will be a team of 3. You’ll report to our Head of Built Environment and work closely with other members of the wider organisation. For now, you won’t line manage anyone, but that may change as we grow.

Despite being a remote organisation, we have built a supportive and sociable work culture. We encourage colleagues who live near each other to meet and work together too, if they want to. Many of our team are based in London and our management team meets in London at least once a month. Twice a year, the entire organisation meets for two days in person, which encourages deeper, richer conversations about our strategy, and allows us to work creatively as a whole team to promote better ways of working and increasing our impact.

Interview structure:

  • First stage: if successful at the application stage, you’ll be invited to submit a short one-way video introduction.
  • Second stage: a virtual 1-hour interview with a small panel from our team.
  • Third stage: an in-person 1.5-hour interview in London with a small panel from our team. You’ll prepare a short task in advance, for discussion during the interview. 
  • Offer: we’ll contact the successful candidate with an offer as soon as we can after the third stage. If you’re unsuccessful in the final round, we’ll give you feedback to explain why.
