The British Museum, home to a collection that chronicles over two million years of human history, is searching for a Diary Manager to support the Director at a pivotal moment of new leadership and vision. With a legacy dating back to 1753, the Museum is a world leader in preserving and showcasing historical artifacts, including the Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies, offering a dynamic and inspiring work environment.

  • Provide comprehensive diary management for the Director.
  • Coordinate meetings, VIP visits, and manage the Director's invitations and expenses.
  • Assist with preparing meeting materials and presentations.
  • Support the Executive Assistant and the Director's Office in various capacities.
  • A-level education or equivalent is required.
  • Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in senior diary management.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and with sensitivity within a team.

The British Museum is seeking an experienced administrator or Diary Manager to play a vital role at the centre of the Museum, providing the Director with effective and efficient management of his complex diary.

The role: As Diary Manager and Assistant to the Director, you will help prepare materials for the Director’s meetings and presentations, lead on the coordination of VIP visits to the BM, and support the Director’s office. With Dr Nicholas Cullinan joining as Director next month with new plans for the Museum, it is an exciting time to join us.

Key areas of responsibility include managing and prioritising the Director’s complex and busy diary, scheduling and coordinating meetings, managing the Director’s invitations and expenses, and providing effective support to the Director’s Executive Assistant and the Director’s Office. You will also coordinate VIP visits to the Museum, manage a programme of weekly Staff Talks, and support with ad hoc duties as part of the Director’s Office.

Job requirements: You should be educated to A-level standard or equivalent, IT literate with the ability to use a range of software packages including Microsoft Office, and have an understanding of senior diary management. Good time management and organisational skills, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work independently, flexibly as part of a team, and with tact and sensitivity are also required.
