The V&A is a family of museums dedicated to the power of creativity—its power to entertain and move, to enrich our lives, open our minds and change the world. We celebrate and share that power through a programme of exhibitions, events, educational and digital experiences, a collection of 2.8 million objects, and through our support for new works and commitment to conservation, research and sustainable design.

As a Conservator with a recognised professional qualification in the conservation of Photographic and Paper-based Materials, you will provide excellence in the conservation of photographs including analogue and digital prints, negatives, glass plates, lantern slides and other contemporary materials. You will be experienced in treating paper-based collections (including prints, drawings, posters, and other 3D paper-based objects).

The postholder will have suitable experience in the treatment of contemporary collections including works with digital and/or software elements, and the ability to undertake technical examination and scientific analysis. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the properties of materials used in their construction and conservation is essential. Familiarity with time-based media conservation and preservation issues will be an advantage as the team often works on collections of hybrid nature.

The V&A offers a generous pension scheme, 29 days plus bank holidays, flexible working, tickets to V&A exhibitions, subsidised staff canteen, 25% discount in V&A shops, and a bicycle loan scheme among other benefits.
