  • Role Summary:
    • Develop robust data pipelines using Dataflow, Apache Beam, and BigQuery.
    • Manage data processes with Airflow and integrate data from various third-party APIs.
    • Ensure player data privacy and uphold data compliance standards.
    • Construct tools for internal team data analysis and experimentation.
    • Facilitate data sharing, query design, and pipeline creation.
    • Work in collaboration with analysts and data scientists to scale data analyses.
    • Create and maintain thorough documentation for data tools and datasets.
  • Role Requirements:
    • 5+ years of data engineering experience.
    • Proficient in collaboration and communication within a fully distributed team.
    • Strong coding & SQL skills, particularly in Python, BigQuery, and MySQL.
    • Experience with cloud data management and Terraform infrastructure deployment.
    • Expertise in ETL/ELT, large dataset management, and Airflow for handling data dependencies.
    • A proactive mentality with strong planning skills and problem-solving capabilities.
    • An affinity for building strong relationships and the ability to explain complex concepts simply.

About You

You are a data nerd with strong engineering skills. You are proactive, collaborative, and communicative.You have built and maintained data pipelines in production at large scale and you are able to make technology decisions about tooling and operations.  You love data and have great experience with the types of data engineering questions relevant to a freemium subscription/gaming business (engagement & monetization data, tooling for prediction & AB-testing etc.).

You’re looking to use your skills to work at a company that you actually care about (and that actually cares about you!). You are a seasoned analyst with intuitive strategic, communication and technical skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Use tools like Dataflow, Apache Beam and BigQuery to create robust data pipelines
  • Orchestrate our data processing using Airflow
  • Collect, process/enrich, and schedule data from third-party and vendor APIs
  • Protect our players PII and help support data compliance across our data stack
  • Build and support tools for our internal teams to use to run experiments and access data
  • Support query design and query review and enable team members to share data
  • Help bring new data sources online and set up new pipelines
  • Collaborate with and mentor analysts/data-scientists in building scalable analyses and datasets
  • Contribute to comprehensive documentation of tools and datasets

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills working in a fully distributed team
  • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and appreciates the value of effective communication with both peers and non-technical teammates
  • Strong coding & SQL skills (we use a lot of Python, BigQuery and some MySQL)
  • Experience working with data in a cloud environment & deploying infrastructure as code through Terraform
  • Experience in conducting ETL / ELT with large datasets and handling DAG data dependencies using Airflow.
  • Puts value building strong relationships with colleagues and partners, enjoys mentoring and guiding others and you have the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms
  • Proven track record of being proactive, planning effectively, and can finding paths forward when blockers arise

About the Opportunity

  • This is a full-time position
  • We are 100% remote (work from anywhere!)
  • This role is open to applicants who can work in American or EMEA timezones.
