Role Summary:

  • Strategic leadership in Early Years and Primary education within Teach First.
  • Guiding the development of teachers and mentors through our programmes.
  • Maintain high-quality and strategic alignment of programme suite, including Initial Teacher Training (ITT).

Role Requirements:

  • Expertise in curriculum design for teacher development.
  • Understanding of curriculum sequencing for Early Years and Primary education.
  • Experience applying research to teaching practices.
  • Capability to nurture talent within your specialism.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience as a school leader.
  • Postgraduate qualification in primary/early years education at Master's level or higher.

The role of Head of Learning Design – Early Years and Primary involves being the strategic expert in Early Years and Primary education for the organisation. You will lead the approach to developing teachers and mentors in these phases across our programmes. Working as part of the Design senior leadership team, you will also have ownership of key areas of our programme suite, for example ITT programmes, ensuring quality and strategic coherence.

Job requirements include proven expertise in designing curricula and content for developing teachers, knowledge of effective curriculum sequencing in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary phase, and experience in the interpretation of research and how it can be applied to teaching practice. You should also have experience of developing others within the context of your phase/subject specialism, and have QTS and have been a school leader. A Post Graduate Qualification related to primary/early years education at least to Master’s level is required.
