Regional Specialist for Japan

The Role: We are seeking a new team member to join us as a Regional Specialist for Japan. In this role, you will play a vital role in planning and operating our educational tours in Japan. We are looking to further develop our product in Japan, and someone with excellent local knowledge and contacts is vital for us to achieve this.

Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include developing new standard itineraries in Japan, researching/recommending tour components for upcoming tours in Japan, completing quote requests for budgets for parties interested in trips to Japan, guiding tours as an Adventure Manager, assisting with Adventure Leader recruitment, supporting with emergencies for tours in Japan, and assisting the bookings team when needed.

Competencies: We are looking for a team member who has excellent spoken and written English skills, is fluent in Japanese (native or N1 level), has excellent knowledge of the travel industry in Japan, has good knowledge of Japan’s geography and destinations, is a team player, has high attention to detail, is organised and able to balance a reactive workload together with ongoing projects, demonstrates initiative and creativity, has strong writing skills, has a confident, clear and approachable telephone manner, and is proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Terms: You will be reporting to the Japan General Manager. A competitive salary will be offered. PR, citizenship or valid work visa is required for this role as we are unable to sponsor visas. The successful individual will be issued with a consultancy contract and will therefore be required to declare their own tax. The start date is the end of August 2024.
