About the role

We’re looking for a Remote Caseworker (Pathway Coach) to transform the lives of disadvantaged people by supporting them into stable jobs and homes.

What’s the role like?
You’ll be joining a team of values-driven and creative caseworkers while being individually responsible for supporting a caseload of people referred to Beam - our “members”.

After an immersive training period, you’ll help our members to picture a brighter future before guiding them through concrete steps to achieve their goals.

That means everything from teaching critical skills - like CV writing or house hunting - to coaching and developing vital levels of self-confidence.

As a Caseworker at Beam, you will have the opportunity to support people into independence - this could be through securing a stable job, home or by helping them build on critical skills like IT, self-confidence and more. Casework generally involves supporting people into a job or a home - sometimes both! - and you may find yourself transitioning between these two vital roles, all the while leveraging your strengths and building innovative solutions to better support our members every step of the way.

In this role, you’ll be

  • Crafting personalised action plans - to support people into stable homes and jobs

  • Supporting vulnerable individuals - using our AI-powered caseworker technology and your excellent caseworker skills to empower members to reach their goals.

  • Working towards targets - ensuring measurable progress and impact in the lives of our members through job starts, secured homes and more.

  • Harnessing technology to amplify your impact - Homelessness is on the rise and we’re supporting more people than ever before - you’ll learn to harness platforms like G-Suite and AI tools to increase efficiencies and ultimately better support your members.

  • Running remote and in-person meetings - you’ll often be supporting your members in-person which might require some travel (up to several times per week)

  • Wearing your problem-solving hat - the people we support have unique barriers and you’ll regularly research and find creative ways to overcome them and hunt down the best opportunities for progression.

As a job hunter, you’ll be

  • Crafting personalised action plans - to support individuals in preparing for, securing, and sustaining employment.
  • Delivering 5-star training - framing compelling CVs, helping members prepare for interviews, using the latest technology to search for opportunities, and rebuilding the confidence needed to succeed.
  • Owning the relationships with a small network of local employers - ensuring they are aware of members we support, and regularly collaborating to source job opportunities for our members.
  • Confident at advocating for members' needs - this could be pitching your member as a suitable employee to companies and more.

As a house hunter, you’ll be

  • Building your own network of local landlords - to secure affordable and suitable housing for our members.
  • Negotiating tenancy agreements - between landlords and members, always ensuring strict compliance with legal requirements at every step of the way.
  • Providing comprehensive support during the lettings journey - This involves providing continuous advice from the initial inquiry to move-in stage, and covers elements like searching for properties online, organising viewings, supporting with applications and educating members about their rights as tenants.
  • Championing your members’ housing needs - with stakeholders and landlords, always ensuring they are granted safe, accessible and stable rented homes.

Estate agent experience is a cherry on top - right now, we’re on the lookout for experience in the private housing sector!

You are

  • Determined - changing lives is not easy and you’re someone who loves hard challenges

  • Compassionate - you’ll need to be equipped with strong listening skills, genuine compassion and a super positive attitude to support members navigating very challenging times/

  • Confident and have strong communication skills - you’ll set boundaries and clearly communicate with a diverse group of people from members and landlords to internal stakeholders and our government partners.

  • Adaptable and resilient - you’re someone who’s energised by ever-changing and fast-paced environments/

  • An ‘ideas person’ - changing lives is not easy and you’re someone who loves hard challenge driven to find new and better ways of doing things/

  • Experienced multi-tasker - you’ll need to be comfortable managing numerous cases simultaneously, ensuring progress for each individual.

  • Respect for data-driven decision-making - alongside your humanity, you’ll appreciate the importance of acting on data

Extra languages are a cherry on top - right now, we’re on the lookout for Welsh and Ukrainian speakers!

Sound like you? Perhaps you don’t feel you tick every box - that’s OK, we encourage those who feel 70% confident with the role, to please hit ‘Apply’, especially if you’re excited about helping kickstart a new era of opportunity for those left behind!
