Volunteer Trustee

What will you be doing?

The Baby Bank began in 2015 as a kitchen-table charity and since then the demand for our service and our profile in the community has grown rapidly. We've helped over 30,000 individuals and are recognised as an essential service by our referral partners.  Now it's time for us to focus on our governing body, empowering them to take the charity forward and support our two paid staff on the next part of the journey. We are looking for people who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of babies and children and can bring the skills and experience we need.  You would need to attend quarterly board meetings and 4 trustee only planning meetings in between,  whether you live locally or are further afield.

What are we looking for?

You should be able to use your initiative and work independently between trustee or leadership team meetings. You will have good time-management skills to get actions completed. Communication skills are very important as you will be working with other trustees, the managers and volunteers of the charity. You should be passionate about helping families.  Our governing body has experienced some changes recently and is relatively inexperienced. You will have the skills and experience to strengthen our team.  We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with lived experience of receiving support from a charity like ours when times were tough. 

What difference will you make?

As we are a small charity; you can make a big impact as a trustee and help us develop strong governance practices to take us forward into the next 10 years of the charity.
