- Role Summary:
- Provide in-person, onsite support for TEDNext 2024 in Atlanta, GA from October 18-25, 2024.
- Positions include Front of House Assistants, Info Hub Support, Check-in Representatives, Theater Ushers, and Back of House Operations and Logistics Assistants.
- Engage with attendees, ensuring they feel oriented and comfortable.
- Handle interactions with high-profile guests and manage challenging situations with professionalism.
- Assist with event set-up, execution, and tear-down, following detailed production schedules.
- Utilize mobile technology for attendee management and other tasks.
- Role Requirements:
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, event production, or tourism management.
- Technically proficient with common devices and software.
- Independent with strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical capability for tasks including standing for long durations and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Fluency in English, with a focus on being calm, kind, and discreet.

The role: These are short-term, temporary contract roles for in-person, onsite support at the TEDNext 2024 in Atlanta, GA taking place at Pullman Yards. Event orientation and onsite work will take place between October 18 and October 25, 2024. Successful candidates will be responsible for any travel, accommodation and meal costs.
Job requirements: We have a variety of on-site positions available including FRONT OF HOUSE General Event Assistants Info Hub Support Representatives Check-in Representatives Theater Ushers BACK OF HOUSE Operations and Logistics Assistants. All roles will assist the Event Production team produce multiple aspects of the TEDNext experience, so we’re looking for people who are comfortable assisting guests with discretion and tact, actively listening to requests and taking the temperature of a situation before reacting. We want people who are proactive and resourceful, able to think critically.
On-site roles can involve walking and standing for long periods and being able to assist in some physical work and heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs. Potential Responsibilities (role dependent) Welcome and support attendees to help them feel oriented, included and comfortable. Represent and exemplify TED’s service ethos - warm, inclusive, welcoming. Interact with high-profile guests and manage stressful or time-sensitive situations with calm discretion. Work with the TED team to execute a pre-set program production schedule. Accurately interpret and follow floor plans, room layouts, one-sheets and running orders for session setup, paying attention to the smallest details. Wayfinding and assisting attendees with directions and local city recommendations. Set up and tear down events or spaces, moving, packing, building and disassembling furniture and decor. Take accurate debrief notes of the event as required, escalate any questions or concerns to the Event Production team. Use mobile devices or tablets to take attendance using TED software programs.
Qualifications of Ideal Candidates: Previous customer service and/or hospitality experience. Tech-savvy with a functional understanding of laptops, tablets, and cell phones. Previous event production or tourism management experience. Able to work well under little supervision, with excellent time management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proactive and resourceful. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Organized and detail-oriented. Calm, kind and discreet. Fluent in English. Able to stand for long periods, participate in physical work, and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
