- Lead conservation efforts for a diverse array of 3D organic and mixed media objects within the Furniture, Metalwork, Paintings and Frames Conservation team.
- Apply expert knowledge on materials and craft excellent solutions for conservation challenges.
- Manage preventive and interventive conservation tasks, ensuring high standards for gallery developments, exhibitions, and collections care.
- Engage in strategic planning and meet critical project deadlines.
- Proven experience in furniture treatment, woodworking, and handling decorative surfaces such as lacquers, veneers, and gilding is essential.
- Desirable experience with modern materials and upholstery is a plus.
- Competence with woodworking machinery and a background in cabinetmaking or related fields.

As Senior Conservator (furniture and related objects) you will be part of the Furniture, Metalwork, Paintings and Frames Conservation team. You will provide excellence in the conservation of a wide variety 3D organic and mixed media objects and having an excellent knowledge and understanding of the properties of materials used in their construction and conservation is essential.
You will undertake all aspects of preventive and interventive conservation and be able to evaluate conservation problems, develop solutions and produce practical work and documentation, all to high standards. You will have good experience in forward planning, prioritising, and delivering to deadlines objects for new gallery developments, exhibitions, loans, and collections care.
The postholder will have extensive experience in the treatment of furniture (including cabinetmaking or related woodworking experience and competence with woodworking machinery) and wooden objects with a variety of decorative surfaces including European and Asian lacquers, painted surfaces, veneers, and gilding. The post holder will have a desirable experience with modern materials and upholstery.
