What will you be doing?
The mission of the project is to ensure "No one is left behind'', including the youngest in the society, to fulfil the UN's 2030 Agenda. CBS is looking for experienced professionals with a wealth of knowledge and wide network within UK schools, academies and colleges. Please note, due to the nature of the guidance required, we are unable to consider applications from leaders from other sectors. These advisors could be current and recent head teachers, educational trust leaders (CEO/senior management), governors and trustees, local authority leaders (education), and school/college business leaders and relevant senior-level professionals. This UK initiative is part of concurrent initiatives in over fifty other counties across the world. Specific requirements include;
Advice on efficient routes to roll out the educational program across UK institutions (state-funded and independent) Provide bird's eye view of challenges and opportunities to ensure maximum participation and inclusion of children and young people in the program Offer guidance on practical aspects of implementing the program; schedule, convenience, funding etc. Facilitate introductions and referrals to schools and colleges (state-funded and independent), MATs and local authorities
What are we looking for?
Considerable network within schools, academics and local authorities in the UK to be able to facilitate introductions and referrals (mandatory requirement) Commitment for the UN SDGs to ensure we all can work together for a sustainable and secure future Experience as a senior member of management and/or leadership at a UK school, college academy, local authority, MAT (desirable) Experience of implementing educational programs and policies within their own educational organisations or institutions under their jurisdiction
What difference will you make?
In light of the climate emergency and the considerably hostile planet that will be inherited by children, your contribution can give over 16 million children and young people in the UK, the opportunity to equip themselves with the knowledge, skills and will to adapt and evolve to more sustainable solutions. Through our various UN SDGs programmes, we have seen that at least 85% of the UK civil society is not aware of the UN SDGs, let alone act on those! This can give you an idea of the need for educating everyone including children about the UN SDGs, its significance and the importance of inspiring them to act on the Global goals. This program is aimed to complement the UK DfE's efforts in educating the next generation of climate-conscious citizens in partnership with educational institutions in the UK.
