What will you be doing?

The AVOCADO Foundation is seeking a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in financial management. This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in financial reporting, particularly within the UK charity sector. In the ordinary course of business during your volunteering, you will be responsible for supporting the finance department, which may include the following responsibilities and duties, which The AVOCADO Foundation will have the discretion to vary from time to time:  Duties and Responsibilities:    

Managing the budget: this includes forecasting future income and expenses, creating budgets and balance sheets, and ensuring that spending is within budget limits.  Preparing financial reports: financial reports provide an overview of the The AVOCADO Foundation's financial status and performance. Make critical business decisions, assess risk, and secure financing.  Conducting financial transactions: Oversees all financial transactions, including expenses authorisation and issuing payments.  Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and laws: Comply with all relevant economic rules and regulations in nationally and internationally. This includes ensuring that financial records are accurate and up to date.  Using accounting software: To keep an accurate record of all internal and external business financial transactions and perform financial audits wherever necessary. 

  Main tasks:   

Helping to implement and maintain good finance systems  Recording financial transactions  Handling accounts payable and receivable Completing tax forms and sending to HMRC   Producing monthly and annual (management) account reports  Paying regular bills for the company  Maintaining company ledgers  Handling client invoices  Identify any inconsistencies and recognise any issues that have arisen.  Leading on the set up of financial systems, processes and policies to ensure we are able to manage funds and create budget forecasts and annual budgets and financial reporting and monitoring, following good practice. 

What are we looking for?

You will need to have a combination of hard and soft skills to complete your duties such as: 

Excellent time management skills and the ability to remain calm and focussed under pressure  Financial management experience Ability to undertake own workload with accuracy  A problem solver, with a forward thinking and committed approach  Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and Outlook  Excellent organisational skills, able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

You will provide recommendation to the CEO and use different reports or calculations to back up your claim.
