About Longview Philanthropy

Longview Philanthropy’s mission and activities

Longview Philanthropy is a non-profit based in the UK and US. We design and execute bespoke giving strategies for major donors. Our grant recommendations are driven by the conviction that we can use evidence and reason to find the highest-impact donation opportunities. We focus on global challenges that could transform our future for many generations to come, including AI safety and governance, biosecurity, and nuclear weapons policy. Everything we offer is free-of-charge and independent. We currently advise donors worldwide.

Impact in this role

In this role, you’ll support the Longview team - especially the Office of the CEO - to ensure we are appropriately tracking the relationships with the philanthropists we work with and could potentially work with. Longview deploys millions per year to reduce the risk of a major global catastrophe, such as a nuclear war between great powers, an engineered pandemic, or the misuse of advanced artificial intelligence. Ensuring that our meetings with philanthropists and donors go well is critical to our impact. In this role, you'll directly contribute to this by helping donor-facing staff prepare and conduct outreach.

Longview Philanthropy’s team culture

We are a collaborative, dedicated, and positive team. We are all deeply motivated by the work that we do and the impact we can have. We are an ambitious organisation with a culture of clear communication, commitment to excellence, direct feedback, ownership over our work and a strong focus on outcomes. Most of the team works from our office in London. This role will work especially closely with the Office of the CEO, currently our CEO Simran Dhaliwaland her Chief of Staff Gavin Weinberg.

Responsibilities

The Development Coordinator will support the Office of the CEO on project managing our donor relationships. They’ll work to ensure that donor data management and communications are run efficiently and seamlessly. This role will be involved in necessary operational tasks to ensure that our CRM is up-to-date, and to ensure our outreach to our donors is appropriate. They may also contribute to our overall strategy for engaging with our donors, helping our CEO, Chief of Staff, and President think through the best ways to advance our work through engagement with donors. Their responsibilities will include:

  • Own and manage the CRM (Airtable), including by working with the team to continually improve the CRM to best serve our needs.
  • Track relevant donor interactions and update the CRM accordingly.
  • Prepare for regular pipeline meetings going through donor updates and next steps on donor deliverables.
  • Ensure team members, including the CEO, complete assigned actions related to donor engagement, through project management of donor deliverables.
  • Ensure that the CEO and other donor-facing team members have the information they need to succeed in their outreach.
  • Prepare agendas for staff’s partnership-related meetings by completing desk research.
  • Compiling partnership-related information for internal and external updates, e.g. monthly team meeting and quarterly stakeholder update.

Possible duties, depending on the candidate:

  • Draft donor-facing materials, such as emails in the voice of other staff, summary documents on our work, our services, our events, etc. (You would likely collaborate with other members of the team, grantmakers, writers, and potentially design contractors as needed for this type of work).
  • Strategic input on our relationship management and next steps with donors.

The successful candidate will report to Gavin Weinberg, Chief of Staff. They will sit in the Office of the CEO, with Sim Dhaliwal and Gavin.

Who Should Apply for This Role?

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Exceptionally strong project management skills, with demonstrated experience of working with - and improving upon - systems.
  • Action-oriented: someone who loves getting things done, and who is comfortable with a role where they have a high degree of autonomy and ownership over their tasks.
  • Highly organised: demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Airtable or similar CRM systems, with a preference for extensive Airtable experience (unless the candidate comes in with a strong view on an alternative system).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate will need to communicate clearly to the CEO and other staff, ensuring they quickly and fully get the relevant context needed for donor meetings and projects.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced and direct feedback environment.
  • Comfort in managing upwards and holding the CEO and other staff to various deadlines and deliverables.
  • Outstanding attention to detail: the ability to execute tasks without errors.
  • Discretion and confidentiality: commitment to maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Motivated by our mission to move philanthropic capital to reduce catastrophic risk.
  • Bonus (not essential): worked in a development context before, such as managing donor data, prepping for fundraising calls and meetings, or even engaging directly with major donors and philanthropists.

If you think you are a strong fit for this role, but you’re on the fence about applying because you’re unsure whether you’re qualified, we encourage you to apply.
