What will you be doing?
We are currently looking to raise our profile more broadly across the county and are looking to ensure that we can provide support needed by the more marginalised parts of our community as well as our current client base. Applicants should have a passion for supporting adults with poor mental-health and be fully qualified accountants with a minimum of 3 years experience. Oakleaf has an experienced Financial Controller who prepares the budgets and management accounts. The Treasurer is expected to provide oversight and support prior to presenting to the Board for review and agreement. The Treasurer is also required to monitor the Charity's investments on a semi-annual basis and where necessary recommend changes to our investment manager or funds. Our income is generally around £1M per annum and as such we undergo a full financial audit each year. The applicant will ideally have experience of guiding an organisation through an audit although our Financial Controller is an experienced auditor who can support initially. Diversity is important to us. Oakleaf is an inclusive organisation and welcomes staff and clients from all backgrounds. We are looking to increase the diversity of our Board to ensure we are representative of the population we are seeking to serve. To that end we particularly welcome applications from women, people from minority backgrounds and younger adults with the relevant qualifications and levels of experience.
What are we looking for?
Oakleaf is looking for a successor to our current Treasurer who is looking to relocate at the end of 2024. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years experience as a fully qualified accountant and ideally will have experience of either undertaking or supporting an organisation through a full financial audit. Our Financial Controller is an experienced auditor so is able to support where required. Applicants should be willing to challenge constructively and also be able to suggest alternative financial strategies where appropriate. The successful candidate will be able to advise on suitable strategies for managing the charity's cash and investments. Although management accounts and budgets are prepared by the charity's Financial Controller the Treasurer is accountable to the Board for their accuracy, understanding and timeliness. This role will be the key senior contact point for our external auditors and will provide input to the Board Risk & Audit Committee as to the auditor's effectiveness.
What difference will you make?
You will provide financial oversight and guidance to the Board, a key element in shaping our strategic decision making and planning. You will be an integral part of a team that sets the vision for the future of the charity.
