The John Muir Trust is a progressive conservation organisation dedicated to conserving, protecting and repairing wild places for the benefit of everyone. We are currently seeking a talented Financial Controller to join our team and help shape and establish efficient processes and controls within the Finance function.

The role: As a Financial Controller, you will report directly to the CFO and Director of Corporate Services. You will be instrumental in shaping the infrastructure of a growing charity during a period of significant change, in alignment with the objectives of the new Corporate Strategy 2022 -2026. You will be responsible for the overall financial governance of the Trust in respect of BAU processes and finance projects. You will have the autonomy to identify gaps in processes and implement improvements. You will work closely with all levels of staff, leadership and trustees providing sound financial advice and support.

Job requirements: Key duties include finance management, ensuring policies and procedures are in place and functioning effectively, identifying process inefficiencies, managing the processing of all financial transactions, preparing budgets, forecasts, management accounts, financial reporting and cash flow reports, and being the main point of contact for the annual external audit and statutory accounts preparation. You will also be responsible for the people management of the Finance Team.

Benefits: The Trust offers a competitive salary starting from £38,400, a 5% employer contribution to a group auto-enrolment pension scheme, and 34 days of holiday per year plus 2 ‘wild days’ or 2 sustainable travel days.
