- Experience with offshore manufacturers and attention to detail in 3D, typography, illustration, and layout skills.

Founded in May 2015, Papier is a London based start-up, which has raised £60m+ million since launch. Papier’s collection of stationery products, from notebooks & diaries to notecards and wedding invitations, is designed to feed curiosity and contemplation, to invite people to uncover the possibility of a blank page. The business is growing and internationalising rapidly, particularly experiencing growth in the US across both D2C and wholesale channels.
At Papier, the Lifestyle Product Designer will design and conceptualise inspirational and trend-setting products that fulfil the overall creative vision.
You will report to our Head of Design, taking ownership of designated tasks and working collaboratively with the wider design team to complete trend-setting and constantly evolving design projects that will push the brand forward. You will have strong design skills in 3D product design, illustration, typography and graphic design and will use your initiative to stay on top of current and future trends, contributing significantly to Papier's growth as a global lifestyle brand.
Areas of Responsibility:
Design Ideation
- Maintain an awareness of emerging design trends, new ideas, and translate these into designs for commercial opportunities
- Present design ideas and outcomes with confidence and clarity, conveying complex design thinking in a way that leads to increased engagement and generates excitement.
Design Delivery
- Create trend-setting, aspirational lifestyle stationery products in a fast-paced environment with tight GTM deadlines
- Utilise strong skills in 3D product design, illustration, graphic design and print composition; translating these into trend-setting product design ideas.
- Actively manage your own schedule consisting of multiple simultaneous projects to ensure that all key deadlines are met. Proactively plan and prepare for a project's next steps.
- Keep all stakeholders informed about a project’s progress, preparing any necessary design information to be shared with them at key stages.
- Have a great understanding of business and design sales performance and utilise this to deliver commercial yet inspiring designs that meet or exceed project goals.
- Flexibility to support the studio in any other way necessary for business needs, especially on D2C during peak times
Product Development
- Take an active role in maintaining best-in-class quality across all lifestyle products, including thorough specs & amendments.
- Work alongside other designers and teams to assist in the development of new designs, keeping good channels of communication throughout
- Have a good understanding of the industry and processes, proactively develop your own understanding and knowledge of this area to gain awareness of possibilities and restrictions, and work with suppliers and colleagues where necessary to expand knowledge of new technology and techniques.
Visual Merchandising
- Support where necessary in the design & sourcing of props and VM Fixtures required to bring Papier vision to life (including 3D display renders)
- This would include liaising with third-party suppliers and contractors to support installations, fixtures and props for Retail Creative projects
Requirements
- Proven track record of producing trend-setting product design, with a strong portfolio to support
- Proficient Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign skills
- Good Rhino and/or Keyshot skills or any relevant 3D software
- A strong interest and understanding in product & stationery design with technical knowledge across different substrates and construction
- Attention to detail with excellent 3D, typography, illustration & layout skills
- Experience working directly with offshore manufacturers
- Detail-oriented, organised & able to multi-task with good time management skills and the ability to manage your own schedule.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
- The ability to work at pace and previous experience of delivering consistent designs in a fast paced environment
- Flexibility and willingness to react quickly to changing demands of the business
