What are we paying?….£14.14 per hour, paid weekly. The role requires a minimum of 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some overtime available, including some weekend work. Start and finish times may vary depending on the season.
Where are we located….Sacrewell Lodge Farm, Thornhaugh, Peterborough, PE8 6HJ. Due to our rural location, having access to your own transport is essential for this role.
We are currently seeking an experienced Farm Supervisor to lead our team in hand-picking a variety of seasonal vegetables throughout the growing season. This role involves a mix of general outdoor field work, manual planting, moving crop covers, hoeing, weeding, operating our machine planter, and, when needed, driving the harvesting rig tractor.
What you’ll be doing…
You’ll be a great people-person, motivating and coaching your team to achieve what they need to do every day. While you’ll work in the picturesque Peterborough countryside, be prepared for variable weather conditions and you may have inexperienced members in your team who need a bit of extra support and guidance. This will take someone well organised, great at planning and prioritising, reliable, hard-working, and confident at communicating.
Ideally, you will have previous experience of leading a team in an agricultural setting, or of manually harvesting veg. Some of our fields are off the beaten track, so it’s essential that you have a full driving license.
Skills & experience…
- Ideally, experience of supervising a team in an agricultural setting
- Team player; enthusiastic, reliable, flexible, and adaptable demonstrating a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- You should have good communication skills and be able to speak and understand English to a level that enables you to comprehend instructions and the daily requirements of the role
- Able to be hands on with the team, working with them and setting a good work rate, as well as organising and keeping an eye on the quality of the work
- Occasional tractor driving as and when required
- Supervising the mechanical planting.
- Driving the forklift and using the electric pallet truck when required
