About Origin We’ve come a long way since 2004—and we’re just getting started. As one of the longest-standing coffee roasters on UK shores, now twenty years old, the love of coffee fuels everything we do. We’re on an ambitious growth journey, striving to deliver our unique take on speciality coffee and hospitality to more people than ever before. Origin is bound by one central ethos - the sourcing of incredible coffee through a sustainable, triple-bottom-line approach. Our coffee celebrates the work and commitment of the entire supply chain - from the country and landscape to the farmers, pickers, and producers. Proudly B Corp certified, we’re always striving for better ways to do business and make sure to share our journey with our customers every step of the way.

The role As the Field and Workshop Technician, you'll be based in London - Leyton, with primary responsibilities for maintaining customer coffee machines both on-site and in the workshop. Duties include receipting goods, completing paperwork, dismantling machines for repair, troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, replacing parts, and preparing machines for dispatch and installation. You'll also clean parts to ensure proper functionality. This role involves managing a constant workflow, prioritising tasks, and supporting the field team in maintaining customer machines. It's a developmental position, with 1-2 days in the workshop and the rest in the field. You may also reinstall equipment you've serviced. Training includes time with our Workshop Coordinator and Senior Technician, followed by independent work. We offer regular upskilling sessions, both in-house and external. A hybrid van is provided for work use, with ongoing support from our experienced team.

Job requirements Mechanical experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. Barista training is beneficial, as familiarity with espresso machines is valuable, but training will be provided if needed. Demonstrable experience working independently and as part of a team aligned with core values and business objectives. Ideally, understanding of the goods-in and goods-out process. Acute attention to detail with the ability to identify anomalies and mistakes. Ability to follow company systems and processes. Strong time management skills. Efficiency, effectiveness, and organisation in both digital and practical tasks. Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to handle early mornings or late evenings as needed. Ability to work independently, building rapport and relationships with key suppliers and colleagues. Excellent verbal communication skills, with a friendly, professional, and accommodating manner. Full UK Driving License.

Benefits Yearly salary £27,500. We’re also passionate about bringing the world of speciality coffee to life through an industry-leading education programme. From professional SCA qualifications to enthusiast brewing courses, we aim to support our community wherever they are in their coffee journey. Our digital channels also allow us to provide engaging learning resources, including ‘how-to guides’ and inspiring social content.
