What will you be doing?
The International Youth Summit (IYS) is a one-of-its-kind international conference to be held over three days in late 2024 and organized by the International Youth Federation under the theme “Youth as Catalysts for Development”. IYS will provide a platform for diverse young leaders to share ideas, deepen their connections, and find solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Together they will chart a better course for the future. To capitalize on the catalytic power of IYS 2023 and to ensure this vision becomes a reality, a Global Youth Agenda for Action covering the period up to 2030 will be developed by youth leaders and publicly launched at IYS 2023. Responsibilities :- (A) Leadership and Management:
Leading the Summit preparatory milestones, including identifying host country, preparing agendas, identifying participants and supervising the administrative tasks related to IYS preparations. Leading the IYS Secretariat team, including planning, prioritizing and coordinating the work carried out by the different units in the Secretariat. Leading and coordinating a broad-based advocacy strategy on the IYS issues to promote IYS goals and innovative ideas among a broad array of champions and supporters. Overseeing the administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Secretariat, including reporting on performance, evaluation of staff performance, interviews of candidates for job openings, evaluation of candidates.
(B) Partnership outreach, coordination and consolidation:
Engaging with partners, including Member States, emerging partners/donors, regional organizations, UN agencies, affected people, civil society, the private sector, to ensure input and support to the IYS. Building and strengthening a strategic coalition of partners to actively shape IYS agenda and strong advocacy on the IYS goals and initiatives. Take a leading role and direct the event planning and management (160 people over three days), requiring logistic skills, attention to detail, follow up of legal and contractual arrangements, liaising with senior level and relevant Host Country representatives.
What are we looking for?
A minimum of three-years of experience and results preferred in event management role, international development, youth empowerment role, development, communications, international relations, youth studies, sport, women empowerment, youth-led organizations or another relevant field.
